fibi and clo's Adoption Story

clo

Pets' names:
fibi and clo
Adopted by: AnaLiza Alba
From: Austin Humane Society

AnaLiza is the founder of fibi & clo, which she named for her cats. (That probably means that her kitties assume they own the company...)

I think I inherited my love for animals from my grandmother. It doesn't matter where I am; if I see an animal, I always have to give it attention, and she was so much like that too.

I had a cat growing up named Kitty. She lived to be 19 years old! After she passed, it took me about a year to adopt Phoebe and Chloe. I found them at the humane society in Austin. The shelter wasn't sure how old they were, but told me since they were full-grown cats they had been in the shelter for a long time. Usually, people come in wanting kittens, so the adult cats are usually there for a long time and sometimes never get adopted. That broke my heart. They ended up putting me in a little room with both of them, and it was love at first pet. I knew I had to get them out of there. I adopted them immediately and picked them up the next day.

fibi

Phoebe and Chloe have been mine since September 2000 when I proudly took them home. Years later in 2009, I named my shoe company after them but ended up having to change the name for legal reasons. So now they're just fibi and clo (in lowercase), you know ... hangin' out, chasin' catnip, runnin' a shoe company.

I'm a huge believer in pet adoption. There are so many animals out there without a home, sitting in shelters, waiting for someone to come and save them. I always encourage adopting. If I had a big ranch back in my home state of Texas, I would adopt as many as I could so they could live happily ever after like fibi and clo.

If you adopted a pet from a shelter or rescue group and you'd like to share his or her story, please email me. I'd love to hear from you!
